This classic olive and natural linen coloured 'Marigold' design fabric by William Morris depicts a rich naturalistic pattern. Printed first as wallpaper then as fabric, this is one of the few designs that Morris considered suitable for both uses. It shows a scrolling pattern of willow leaves and marigolds. An original screenprint, it came from the private hoard of a retired seamstress; accumulated over a lifetime of sewing and squirreling.
Size & Condition:
This weighty linen cotton is in excellent unused condition. The selvedge bears the name 'Marigold', William Morris by Sanderson. Measuring 87" (220cm) by 49" (84 cm) there is ample for a window/bench seat and cushion(s) or a similar sewing project.
Although William Morris died over a century ago, his rich, distinctively naturalistic textile designs show no signs of fading. This vintage piece is Sanderson's homage to the great man's legacy.
