Iconic 1930s-50s Huntley & Palmers Christmas Tin

Product ID: H131

This is a fantastic Huntley & Plamers biscuit tin thought to date to the pre-1950s . This lovely and large tin would undoubtedly have been bought specially for Christmas, as a very special treat.

The iconically charming style of the  Santa Claus image, with his sack of toys, is similar to that used by other manufacturers, such as Coca Cola, during the early 1930s and 40s period. The toys too, in particular the soldier, trumpet and golliwog, are also in keeping with those popular at this time. Softly coloured, the scene with snow falling is hugely evocative. The decoration continues around the side of the tin where numerous santas are depicted holding up the letters of the Huntley & Palmers name in the snow. The touch of wit and jollity ensure an eyecatching and attractive display on the shop shelf and at home in the kitchen.

This wonderful tin has obviously been much loved, used and treasured over the years, and would make a great family Christmas tradition of your own. Fill it full of biscuits and sweets as a treat for your family and guests this Christmas and for years to come.

The tin has a remarkably clean and largely untarnished inside and is in very good vintage condition for its age. There is evidence of rubbing all round the tin lid on the outside, where it has been opened and shut over the years as would be expected. Make this a lovely family heirloom of your own.
