Rare Pretty Victorian Hand Vase

Product ID: C133

A very pretty Victorian hand vase believed to date to the 1860s. Thought to be inspired by the Victorians' fondness for classical mythology, pretty examples like this one are increasingly difficult to find and very collectable. This lovely feminine, porcelain hand vase is decorated in the detailed style favoured by the Victorians. A wonderful intricately patterned lace cuff gives rise to a hand clasping a flower bud shaped container for holding small flowers. The dainty hand has carefully observed elegant fingers with nail detailing and rings to two fingers.

The flower bud container is finely detailed to suggest the texture of petals and is overlaid with a forget-me-not flower design; flowers which were close to the sentimental Victorian heart and of course symbolise love. The forget-me-nots are hand painted in the palest of blues with yellow and brown centres, and the leaves detailed in a fresh natural green.

The vase measures approximately 7.5inches in height and is in excellent condition for its age, with just one tiny nibble to the base of the lace cuff.

A graceful and charming period piece that is both attractive and romantic. The perfect finishing touch for a feminine interior or period home and a must for the flower lover!
