An utterly gorgeous embroidery of a 1920s/30s Crinoline lady strolling in an English country flower garden.
Richly embroidered, with a vast array of country cottage flowers, including hollyhocks, lupins and delphiniums, a crinoline lady in a sunny yellow and lilac gown and bonnet and a flower trug upon her arm, picks flowers as she meanders along a herbacous border past a sundial. On a soft white ground the embroidery is beautifully executed. The colours are bright and vivid and the whole piece is in excellent, clean condition. Mounted on board by a series of threads to the back, it is free from glue and could either be framed or made up into a cushion or other decorative item.
The embroidery measures approximately 18ins. by 15ins. including the borders and 11.75ins. by 10.5ins. to the worked area.
A really fabulous period piece for the vintage home.
