Pair of Exquisite 1940s Handpainted Candleshades

Product ID: H105

This gorgeous pair of petite candleshades are just beautiful. Almost certainly handmade in the 1940s, for the drawing or public room of a fine grand house it is quite astonishing that they have survived. A wonderfully soft warm colour, they are decorated with painted roses, daisies and Damselflies, under a faux crackle effect. A subtle gilt edging is applied to the upper and lower rims of each shade.

Size & Condition:

These lovely shades are in fabulous condition for their age, though time has conferred a patina which it is impossible to emulate. One bears a very tiny scorch mark and has a small area to the rear upper rim where the glaze has lifted. Each shade measures approximately 4” in height and 5.5” in diameter.

What a gem of a find for adding genuine vintage patina to your home!
