Elegant Period Vanity Case

Product ID: H114

A super vintage vanity case dating to the1940s, in muted shades of green & cream. Utterly charming, it would make a great jewellery/cosmetics case. The case is made from cardboard and is lined inside with a burgundy floral paper. It is finished with a painted green handle and matching green vinyl edging.

This delightful vintage case bears wonderful marks of the patina of use. It is possible to discern where the owner’s hand has rested when carrying it by the handle, and to detect from the undulations on the bottom where it was placed on the ground. There are several small fountain pen ink marks to the paper lining inside, suggesting the case was also used as a writing case when travelling, as was often the habit. A mirror (absent-a lack of vanity perhaps) may be attached to the inside of the lid, the clips are still attached. The lock catch (no key) and hinges are wonderfully aged with a very light surface rusting, but all fully functional.

Size & Condition:

The case measures approximately 14”wide,  8”deep and 7” high, and is quite capacious. It is in very good vintage condition for its age as can be seen from the photos.

A great vintage case from an era of stylish travel. Add it to your vintage luggage collection or  put it to use as original storage at home.
